Stock market holidays are days that the stock market is closed and traders and investors can’t buy or sell stocks. A stock market holiday is a day when the stock exchange closes. A holiday will typically be declared when there is a national event, such as Christmas Day in many countries, or for religious purposes. The term “stock market holidays” includes both national and international holidays, and they can include weekends and other days off from work.

There are different types of stock market holidays in India such as national holidays. These are public holidays in a country. Some countries have more than one national holiday, while others don’t have any at all. Scheduled days are days when the stock market is closed on specific days of the year, such as Christmas, New Year’s Day, etc. Observed holidays are days when the stock markets close because they’re observed by a large number of people. For example, some Christian denominations observe Good Friday and Easter Sunday as holidays and some Muslim countries observe Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as public holidays.
On various occasions like these, the stock market decides to close trading for the day. As reported by the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), there will be 13 stock market holidays on the weekdays and 6 stock market holidays on Saturdays and Sundays.
