The company has announced a series of initiatives to empower citizens with the proper knowledge before casting their vote. Twitter will be launching a customised emoji, which will be used as a notification and reminder mechanism which will allow people to sign-up for reminders on the day of voting starts. India is trending a voter education quiz that will engage people in questions and answers with necessary facts about election polls. Twitter will be using a dedicated search prompt by the Election Commission of India to provide real-time updates and developments on the elections. This will direct people to access reliable information about candidate lists, polling booths, voter ID registrations, etc. In addition to English, Twitter will be adding Hindi, Punjabi, Konkani, and several other supported hashtags in the search prompt.
