Early and Personal Life
Vandana Luthra, founder of VLCC was born on 12th July 1956 in New Delhi to an engineer father and doctor mother. Her mother was a part of a charitable trust and serve the common and needy people. This is where she got the inspiration to help other people.
She was a student of the Polytechnic College for women in Delhi following which she went to Europe for studies in beauty, wellness, skincare, and nutrition. In the year of 1988, she got married to the present chairman of VLCC, Mukesh Luthra. She has two daughters.
Journey of VLCC (Success Story of Vandana Luthra)
VLCC stands for Vandana Luthra Curls and Curves which is named after her. VLCC is one of the most successful beauty and wellness centers in India. Vandana Luthra founded VLCC in 1989 at the age of 30. The first VLCC center was opened in Safdargunj, New Delhi.
It has come a long way from where it began and now VLCC has gained popularity both nationally as well as internationally in the beauty and wellness sector. Some of the services provided by VLCC are beauty and grooming, slimming, hair transplant, etc. VLCC has generated employment for more than 5000 individuals in 153 different cities and 13 different countries so far.
The professionals include beauticians, medical professionals, nutrition experts, cosmetologists etc. VLCC also produces beauty products (skin, hair, body) for sale which are also exported outside India for revenue generation.
VLCC provides a wide range of services and now they have also set up an educational institute named VLCC Institute of Beauty & Nutrition to provide vocational training courses. The VLCC Company has provided the opportunity to the improvement of beauty and wellness sector skills among individuals and has helped them to be independent.
Vandana Luthra is the Chairperson of Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC) which is a non-profitable organization with the motto to educate women from backward communities and women with financial issues. BWSSChas helped a lot of women to become financially independent. Vandana Luthra has hence helped the financially backward communities in several ways.
Khushi NGO
Khushi NGO was set up by the well-known cricketer, Kapil Dev in 2003, and Vandana Luthra is the vice-chairman of this non-profitable charity program. Khushi NGO works for underprivileged children and helps them in numerous ways.
Khushi NGO transforms their lives through education and works at a national level. It ensures that children in need are not deprived of schooling, health, and food. Khushi NGO even helps the family of poor children economically and supports them in every possible aspect.
They have so far successfully enrolled more than 45,000 students in schools, run more than 1.7 lakhs of health check-ups, served more than 3 lakhs meals, and touched more than 5 lakhs lives. Khushi NGO has telemedicine centers, remedial schools, and vocational training facilities enabling a huge population of needy people.
Vandana Luthra is also a member of the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. In other words, Vandana Luthra has successfully touched many lives to inspire and help them in various fields.
Achievements and Awards
Vandana Luthra has been awarded the prestigious as well as the fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri Award by the honorable ex-President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in the year 2013.
She got awarded in the sector of business and entrepreneurs as well. In 2012 she received the Asian Business Leaders forum Trailblazer award.
She also received the Enterprise Asia Women Entrepreneur of the Year award in the year of 2010.
She remained one of the 50 most influential women in business in India for 5 years (2011- 2015).
Vandana Luthra has published 2 books on inspiration and fitness. One of them was published in 2011 and the other in 2013. The two books are called “Complete fitness program” and “A good life” respectively.
She has touched many lives and successfully inspired a huge population to be independent. Vandana Luthra will continue to be one of the most influential and successful women of India and remain an inspiration for women empowerment.
