The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has agreed to raise the pay of those who work in the Khadi industry. The historic decision to raise the pay from Rs 7.50 per hank to Rs 10 per hank was made by KVIC. The earnings of weavers will increase by 10%, while the monthly income of artisans will grow by around 33% as a result.

The workers involved in the Khadi-Village Industries programme are supposed to have access to more and more money, which is likely to lead to a growth in their income sources and an improvement in their financial situation.
This choice will take effect on April 1st, 2023. According to a statement by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Businesses, the 694th meeting of KVIC online was conducted in Kutch, Gujarat, on January 30, 2023. Manoj Kumar, the chairman of KVIC, presided over the meeting when the Commission made this decision.

Manoj Kumar stated that during the fiscal year 2021–2022, 84,290 crores in production and 1, 15,415 crores in sales were made by Khadi and Village Industries. A new record was reached on October 2, 2022, when Khadi India’s CP shop sold 1.34 crore rupees of khadi in a single day. The credit for this belongs to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plea to the nation’s citizens to purchase Khadi and the millions of craftsmen and Khadi workers who labour ceaselessly to produce and sell Khadi products.

In addition, he stated that over the past few months, KVIC logo held several Khadi dialogues with workers, Khadi institutions, and Khadi groups operating in various parts of the nation. According to Kumar, he discovered during the Khadi discussion that the spinners and weavers of the Khadi sector had contributed particularly to raising Khadi production. It has taken decades for the request to raise their compensation.
This issue was duly considered, and at the KVIC‘s 694th meeting, it was resolved to raise salaries by 33% to increase income and draw more citizens to Khadi. The intention behind this is for the employees connected to the Khadi-Village Industries programme to have access to an increasing amount of money.
