Airtel 5G Launch Date In India – More On Trial, Speed and Updates So Far

Gone are the days, when you had to depend only on Airtel dongles, and very soon Airtel 5G dongle will not be far from when we can make use of them as well.

5G network trial of Airtel in India is underway in a full-fledged manner. The telecom company has been testing the capacity of its network and how it performs so that it can be sure that the Airtel 5G services it is planning to extend are ready when the services are live.

The company has been working in tandem with other corporate stalwarts like the TATA Group, Nokia, and Ericsson for the 5G network services. While Jio has declared that it will be the first to launch a full-fledged 5G service in the country, Airtel 5G does not want to stay behind. You can read more about it in the paragraphs that follow.

Airtel 5G launch date in India

There is no official date announcement for India’s 5G service launch in India. However, the DoT or Department of Telecommunication’s announcement officially is that it will happen this year in 2022 itself. The idea is to first introduce the service in as many as 13 cities that include Kolkata, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Delhi, Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Chennai, Jamnagar, Hyderabad, Gandhi Nagar, and Ahmedabad, where Vi and Jio have completed their trials already to set up 5G sites.

The services will be made available to the other regions of the country at a later stage. It may take up to one year or a year and a half for the cellular infrastructure to develop in India.

    Working with Tata Group

Airtel’s plan comprises piloting and deploying 5G services that are developed and in partnership with the Tata Group, at the beginning of January 2022.

Airtel would use Group’s O-RAN-based Radio and NSA/SA Core Technologies that is state-of-the-art and meant for made-in-India 5G services.

However, the service will be extended beginning January 2022 for commercial development purposes according to the statement jointly issued by Tata Group and Airtel. Nothing has been mentioned about the Airtel 5G plans and costs at present.

    Airtel 5G SIM

The SIM cards are not available in the market now, and they will be made available only after the services are launched. You must have a device that is compatible with the 5G SIM to enjoy the services.

    Airtel 5G Speed

The speed of Airtel 5G has been approximately 1,000Mbps while the company conducted the trials in Mumbai and Gurugram.

    Airtel 5G Trial

The 5G Airtel trial network can be availed in Gurugram in the city’s Cyber Hub, Phoenix Mall in Hyderabad, and Lower Parel in Mumbai.

Airtel is, for the moment focusing on the enterprise segment for its 5G services which operates under its Airtel Business banner. One of the main reasons is that there has been an escalation in business from using data digital transformation during the pandemic.
