Akash Madhwal’s Rise and IPL Debut with MI in 2023

Not long ago, Akash Madhwal played tennis ball cricket across Uttarakhand. He is now among Rohit Sharma’s most effective tools. The Mumbai Indians made Akash Madhwal’s IPL debut before they played the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023.

    Debut of Akash Madhwal

In Uttarakhand, Akash Madhwal attended Roorkee Public Senior School for his elementary and secondary education. Later, he graduated with honours in business from that institution.

He played in his maiden Twenty20 match for Uttarakhand on November 8 in the 2019–20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

December 25, 2019, marked the start of his Ranji Trophy career for Uttarakhand. He competed for Uttarakhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time on February 21, 2021.

Akash Madhwal has participated in 15 T20 games and taken 15 wickets at an excellent economy rate of less than 8.

Akash Madhwal’s dominating bowling in IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians (MI) completely dominated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Chennai during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) Eliminator to secure their spot in Qualifier 2. Their success was fuelled by a bowler who was almost unknown before that. Many of their great players, like Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma, had noteworthy innings. Still, as a result of what Akash Madhwal did, they were all reduced to little more than footnotes.

He finished with improbable stats of 5/5 in 3.3 overs, dismissing LSG for 101 runs in response to MI’s 182/8 in a contest that would go down in IPL history as one of the most lopsided playoff games ever played. Since this was Madhwal’s sixth game of the year, it wasn’t his debut. It’s also not the first time he’s taken a sizable number of wickets in a game. On that occasion, he recorded 4/37 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in MI’s final league match. However, Madhwal’s achievement went unnoticed since SRH had amassed 200/5, and Cameron Green had made a quick-fire 100 off 47 balls.

    What is his bowling speed?

Akash Madhwal was chosen to open after MI captain Rohit Sharma revealed Riley Meredith’s injury at the toss. It’s interesting that MI only started three foreign players in their matchup with the Punjab Kings.

Over several other excellent players on the Mumbai Indians roster, Akash was selected by the franchise administration of the MI team.

Currently 29 years old and 176 cm tall, Madhwal was born in Rourkee on November 25, 1993. Madhwal uses his right arm to bowl at a medium tempo. Akash Madhwal bowling speed has been seen to average between 130 and 135 kmph on the local Indian circuit.

What is the IPL salary of Akash Madhwal?

Last year, Mumbai Indians bought Madhwal as a fill-in player. He took the position of Suryakumar Yadav, who was forced to withdraw from the IPL 2022 due to a left forearm muscle injury.

Last year, Akash Madhwal didn’t make the Mumbai Indians’ starting XI. MI decided to keep him on their roster for the IPL 2023. The exact amount of Rs. 20 lakh as MI paid the previous year to obtain him.
